HU Proton Therapy Institute To Host Free Seminar
Hampton, Va. – The Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute (HUPTI) will host an informational seminar Wed, April 28, at 6:30 pm, at the HUPTI Welcome Center in the Peninsula Town Center in Hampton. The general public is encouraged to come and hear about cancer prevention tips and proton therapy cancer treatment. Refreshments will be served.
Attendees will hear from Christopher Sinesi, M.D., medical director, HUPTI, Cynthia Keppel, Ph.D., scientific and technical director, former proton therapy patients and learn about employment opportunities.
“Proton Therapy helped save our son’s life when he was diagnosed with spinal Ewing’s sarcoma at the age of 2 in 2007,” said Susan Ralston of Virginia Beach, who traveled to Texas for Jacob’s treatment. “Today our son is in remission, enjoying his life in Pre-K, as a normal, happy little boy.” Ralston co-founded the Pediatric Proton Foundation, with husband Jim, after Jacob’s treatment.

Proton therapy is regarded as the most precise form of cancer treatment to date, targeting only the tumor while sparing surrounding healthy tissue.
